My name is William. I was made redundant 4 years ago, when I was 58. I had a responsible job and I’m a really experienced engineer. I have applied for literally hundreds of jobs, most of the time I never hear anything at all.
The times I have been called in for interview they say things like ‘why would you want to start again at your age?’ and ‘how would you feel working in a younger team?’ I can’t seem to persuade them that I need this job and I would be really good at it.
I can’t believe I’m in this situation; other people get discriminated against, not people like me…
