My name is Catherine. I am Head of Communications for a large company and they are insisting that I retire next year when I hit 65.
To be honest it’s given me a bit of a shock, I love my job, I didn’t even notice that I was getting ‘old’. I told them that I’d rather stay on but apparently that would send the wrong message to my team and it would be more dignified for me to retire gracefully.
Can they really sack me just because I’ve reached a certain age?
